The Box Hill City Band

About the Band

Conductor - David Farrell

One of the oldest brass bands in Victoria, the Box Hill City Band has been performing since 1889. This year it will be holding its 120 year celebrations!

BHCBa.JPGThe band has a number of engagements each year, including the ANZAC Day march, various concerts and services with the RSL and the Remberance Day service at the Sprinvale Botanical Cemetery. So far this year, the band has played at a fundraising concert for victims of the devastating Victorian bushfires, and will soon be playing at an ANZAC Day service to preceed the International Australia Vs New Zealand Rugby game at Olympic Park.

The band also regularly competes in B grade in various competitions, such as the National Band Championships, and the Victorian State Brass and Concert Band Championships. This year the band achieved 3rd in the B grade street march held at the Sydney Royal Easter Show as part of the Nationals, and John Kelly, the drum major of the band, was 3rd best drum major in B grade.
